China Airlines awards A350-900 landing gear overhaul contract to Safran Landing Systems

Safran Fahrwerk

Safran Landing Systems will overhaul the main landing gear of China Airlines’ entire A350-900 fleet. Signed on September 23, 2026, during MRO Asia-Pacific in Singapore, the contract covers 18 Airbus A350-900 aircraft and runs through 2031.

Scope of work and location

The maintenance work will be carried out at Safran Landing Systems’ MRO facility in Singapore. In addition to the landing gear overhaul itself – during which the main landing gear is completely disassembled, inspected and rebuilt at specified intervals – the contract also includes related technical support.

As the OEM for the A350 landing gear, Safran has access to its own design data and manufacturing specifications, providing an operational advantage in the MRO of complex structural components of this class.

Existing customer relationship

The two companies already have an established relationship: China Airlines also relies on Safran Landing Systems for landing gear maintenance on its A330 fleet. Tigerair Taiwan and Mandarin Airlines, both part of the CAL Group, also work with Safran Landing Systems.

Olivier Thomas, EVP Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul at Safran Landing Systems, commented on the agreement: “This contract reflects the trust China Airlines places in our teams, our technical expertise, and our ability to support critical fleet operations over the long term.”
