Harald Gloy to Become New CEO of Lufthansa Technik

The company’s supervisory board has appointed Harald Gloy (left) to succeed Sören Stark (right) as Chairman of the Executive Board of Lufthansa Technik AG.

Harald Gloy will take over as Chief Executive Officer of Lufthansa Technik AG on February 1, 2027. The current Chief Operating Officer will succeed Sören Stark, who will retire at the age of 59. Lufthansa Technik’s Supervisory Board has appointed Gloy CEO for a five-year term.

Promotion from within Lufthansa Technik

The 54-year-old industrial engineer has been a member of Lufthansa Technik’s Executive Board since 2022. As COO and Accountable Manager, he currently oversees all operational activities as well as the company’s IT organization. Until 2025, he also headed Human Resources as Labor Director for three years.

Gloy began his career at Lufthansa Technik more than 25 years ago after studying in Berlin and the United States. He subsequently held management positions in logistics, corporate strategy, aircraft and engine overhaul, and the components business. In 2019, he joined the Executive Board of Lufthansa Cargo AG as COO and took on additional responsibility for Human Resources in 2021. He returned to Lufthansa Technik in 2022.

Supervisory Board Chair Grazia Vittadini highlighted Gloy’s familiarity with Lufthansa Technik’s structures and processes as well as his management experience within the Lufthansa Group. She also pointed to his knowledge of the company’s customers, employees and the global maintenance, repair and overhaul market.

Sören Stark to retire after five years as CEO

Sören Stark has served as CEO of Lufthansa Technik since 2022 and has been a member of the company’s Executive Board since 2019. His previous roles included heading Lufthansa Technik’s aircraft overhaul business and serving as COO of Lufthansa Cargo. He joined the Lufthansa Group in 2001.

Gloy’s successor as COO has not yet been named. Lufthansa Technik says the position will be filled as soon as possible.
